Mission Statement

The Friends of Old guild was formed by a group of close friends that intended on organizing end game events with the fairest loot system possible. Our goal is to progress in 25-man PvE content and to organize weekly PvP events. We favor elite players without the elitist attitude and expect all of our members to be helpful and respectful to each other so we can all obtain WoW greatness. We work through our differences to do what’s right for the guild and will not tolerate people who disrespect or belittle each other. The Friends of Old guild has been deemed a drama free zone because above all, we’re here to have fun. Welcome.

Guild Structure

Overview

The guild is managed by a group of generals and officers that are led by the GM. Anyone in either group may propose a policy change in the forums. Both groups debate the proposal. If a (different) general calls the (amended) proposal to a vote, the GM organizes the proposal into a new thread and it is voted upon by both groups. Majority wins. On the spot decisions are to be made by the highest ranking officer in the guild as outlined below.

Guild Master

The GM is responsible for all aspects of managing the guild including its leadership, membership, web site, financial status, and the voice server. The GM will also manage regular leadership meetings and forum debates. The GM is responsible for choosing the generals and officers for the guild. The GM votes as a general.

Generals

Generals hold the highest rank in the guild. They are expected to be involved in the majority of guild activities and be available by phone if needed. They must meet the requirements of a progression raider. Generals can schedule guild events, activate forum accounts, manage the DKP system, and manage the ventrilo server. They are expected to lead the raids, participate in officer and general forum debates, make on the spot decisions in the guild’s best interest, and take part in leadership meetings. Generals report to the GM.

Officers

Officers are responsible for maintaining order in the guild and making decisions when necessary. All officers must be able to manage their responsibilities or they will be asked to step down. Officers will take part in officer forum debates and take part in monthly leadership meetings. They must be able to run a raid when asked. They also have their own specific responsibilities and report to the GM. Listed below are jobs that may be held by either a General or an Officer.

Recruiting Officers: Two total. Responsible for bringing in new members, activating forum accounts, and closing applications.

Financial Officer: Responsible for the bank tab. Will ensure everyone is using the tab according to the rules.

Lead PvP Officer: Responsible for organizing weekly PvP activities such as premade battlegrounds and world PvP events. Makes the final call on scheduling.

PvP Officer: Responsible for organizing weekly PvP activities such as premade battlegrounds and world PvP events.

Promotions Officer: Responsible for checking gear, specs, and maintaining a list of all raiders in the forums. The promotions officer will handle all promotions up to the rank of progression raider.

Strategy Officer: Responsible for working out all of our guild strategies and maintaining them on the forums.

Forum Moderator : Responsible for organizing and pruning the forums.

Public Relations Officer : Responsible for representing FoO on other game related sites and managing other activities such as the FoO Lottery.

Ventrilo Administrator : Responsible for managing the vent server and maintaining everyones account.

Progression Raiders

These are our very best raiders that have progression raid invite priority and have loot objection privileges. The spots are limited and are only available to certain classes. These raiders are expected to study fights on their own, know our strats, follow directions well, come prepared, and participate in the majority of our DKP raids. They must post for every DKP event whether they can attend or not and must be extremely active and reliable. To obtain progression raider status, one must already be a raider. They may request progression raider status by posting according to the sign up in the guild discussion forums. Players that fail to follow the rules, will be demoted without warning and lose their privilages.

Progression Raider Alts & Off Specs

Our single 25-man progression group needs a variety of specs and characters to be successful. Some alts and off specs of progression raiders may be offered progression raider status.  For the most part, we will notify the player who we want to have this privilege. People that feel they can offer the progression group a variety may post for this privilege in the promotions forum by following the instructions listed in that forum.  All decisions will be made based on the progression group’s best interest.  To qualify, alts or off specs must meet the basic raider requirements and be willing to run either spec or character in our progression raids without argument.  They must also agree not to get their characters saved to our progression raids until we have scheduled them out of it.

Off specs with this privilege may bid on items as a main would bid as long as the pending drop isn’t an unique high level weapon or a high level trinket.  The final decision will always be made at the drop by the loot master.  They may also object to loot decisions and have loot priority over raider ranked players and below where applicable.  See the Loot Objections category for more information.

Raiders

Players must meet the basic requirements listed below to be considered for raider rank. Anyone with the rank of raider is welcome to sign up for events and will get priority over lower ranked members. Raiders that sign up for a progression raid will be given a standby spot. If the raid doesn’t fill with progression raiders that signed up, we will give the spot to a raider at invite time. Players wanting raider status must request it by posting according to the sign up in the guild discussion forums.

Basic Requirements

Gear: All pieces must be pve gear with a rating no lower than 200. Your gear must be specifically designed for you class/spec.

Enchants: All gear must be enchanted with the best available raiding enchants.

Gems: All sockets must be filled with the best available raiding gems.

Talents: Pve spec only.

DPS: Must be able to maintain an average no lower than 4K DPS. Must know your hit cap and be soft hit capped while accounting for raid buffs.

Healers: Must be able to fulfill your role in the raid and keep your assigned targets alive.

Tanks: Must be able to hold agro on your assigned targets and be capped in all applicable ways.

All:
Must be able to follow instructions given in vent by the raid leader.
Have an acceptable attendance record.
Have all the necessary raiding add-ons for your class/spec.
The ability to stay alive and dance.
No computer issues that cause constant interruptions or hinder your performance.

Members

These are full members of our guild that have bank access. Members either do not raid or do not meet the requirements of a raider.

Alts

Players may only have one member in the guild that’s ranked higher than alt for banking reasons. The alt’s main name should be added to his/her public note.

Recruits

Recruits are new members. The recruit must prove him/herself to the rest of the guild before requesting a promotion. They should learn the rules and how we operate before asking for one and cannot be promoted until they’ve been in the guild for a week.

Promotions

All promotions to alt should be done at the time the alt is invited to the guild. All promotions up to the rank of progression raider will be handled solely by the promotions officer. The promotions officer will typically promote a new member to the rank of member after talking with the player. They then must request a higher rank by applying for it in the promotions forums.

Demotions

Demotions are unavoidable as people’s lives and availabilities change. To make our system work, we have to move people around to best suit our guild. It’s never meant to degrade someone and will be handled with respect. The GM will handle demotions of generals and officers and the promotions officer will handle all demotions of players ranked progression raider and below.

Withdrawing Rank

If you cannot meet the requirements of the rank you hold, you should withdraw your rank to stay in good standing with the guild. This can be done in the guild discussion section of the forums.

Leave of Absence

You are required to post a leave of absence if you are ranked progression raider or above and plan on being away for a week or longer. This is required because the guild relies on your participation. A leave of absence can be posted in the guild discussion section of the forums in the appropriate thread. Depending on your role and the amount of time you need off, you may be asked to withdraw your rank but this usually isn’t the case.

Joining

Anyone that wishes to join our guild must have a sponsor. A sponsor is a person that is already ranked member or above that will vouch for them. The player that wishes to join must register on the forums, contact the recruiting officer for activation, and fill out the application. Once they have done so the recruiting officer will wait for the applicants sponsor to post under their application. Once that has been done the recruiting officer will interview and invite the player if he/she decides it’s for the good of the guild. Players inquiring about membership should be directed to the join button on our web site, which provides and overview and directions.

Perks

Guild Bank

The bank is for all full members of the guild. Only one character may have access. If you take something out, you must put something back in of equal value. There is no exception to this rule besides enchanting materials (see below) and it is considered stealing if you do not abide by it. All items deposited must be valuable to level capped players.

Paid Repairs

We intend on paying for progression repairs for both 10 and 25-man raids when the guild can afford it. The limit is set to 100g per person so the max that could be removed from the bank is 2,500g per raid. A balance greater than 5,000g is considered sufficient. One must not use the repairs unless they’re participating in the event.

Paid Enchants

We only intend on paying for enchants on your main character's main spec. This includes no more than 1/2 the abyss crystals needed. We will not give you abyss crystals unless you have a level 226 item. Please be considerate of everyone else by not asking us to give your alt a chant or take materials for your off spec as there just isn't enough to go around.

Announcement 2: (Item) off spec roll / bid.

Rolling PvE Gear:

Roll 1: Main Spec / Armor Proficiency
Roll 2: Off Spec / Non-Armor Proficiency

Rolling PvP Gear:

Roll 1: Determined by item restrictions.

Bidding DKP

Bid 1: Main Spec / Armor Proficiency
Bid 2: Off Spec / Non-Armor Proficiency

DKP General Information

The point cap is 100 DKP. Raiders earn 2 points per hour and 1 point per boss kill on DKP bosses only. All points are given after the raid, but points spent are taken away immediately. Points are only distributed to players that closed the raid. If a player leaves on their own before the scheduled encounter is finished, the replacing player will receive the DKP for that entire encounter.

New players, including alts, are awarded 5 points after their first raid.

Any of the rules may be changed to promote fairness but may only be changed after a raid.

DKP Bidding

It is the responsibility of the member to know how many points they have before coming into the raid. The current DKP standings can be found on our web site by going into the DKP section, then stats, then arranging by current.

The minimum bid is 1 point. Highest bidder that is allowed to bid on the item wins. Players may only make a bid if they have enough points to out bid the current bid or tie it with 100 points. Bids that end up in a tie will roll for the item. Winner pays their bid in DKP.

BOE Items

BOE items can only be taken by players that will wear them, in their own armor proficiency. There is no off spec roll on BOE items; they are sold for guild repairs. All recipes are taken and given to the selected guild crafters.

Loot Objections

Progression raiders may object to a loot decision but it must be done so while the loot is being distributed. Valid objections may vary but some examples are a person taking loot that isn’t main raiding spec, the item is a downgrade, parallel without major benefit, the item has stats the player can’t use or shouldn’t be stacking, armor proficiency, or even malicious reasons. Progression raiders may also object if a rare drop has been won by non-progression raider. Once an objection is made, the officers will break to discuss and decide on the drop. The following calculation is used as a guideline to decide on objections. Please see Progression Raider Alts & Off Specs for more information.

Pro Raider Main Character Main Spec > (Pro Raider Alt = Pro Raider Off Spec) > (Raider, Member, Recruit, Alt, Pro Raider Unapproved Off Spec)

Keys

All raiding keys will be taken by the leadership first to ensure the guild can continue to progress. This is also a perk of being an active officer. After the officers have received keys, they will be distributed by DKP.

Mounts

Mounts will be distributed by rank. The highest ranking members receive their mounts first and equally ranked members will roll against each other.

Other Valuables

Other valuables such as greens and orbs will be looted by the raid leader. Greens are disenchanted and put into the bank. Orbs and other valuables are sold to pay for raider repairs.

Raiding

Raiding Requirements

All raiders must be at their absolute best whether they’re on their alt or main character. Players must have their own flasks, food, and pots. You must come into the raid with your gear completely repaired. You gear must be chanted and gemed properly and you must have an approved raiding spec.

Raider Discipline

Anyone that comes into one of our raids is expected to control themselves and follow directions. It's not about who knows what, it's about keeping order in our raids. We will have designated raid leaders that will handle all aspects of the raid. We do not need anyone calling our heroisms, when to res someone, when to pull, when to wipe and we definitely don't need anyone repeating what the raid leader is saying. Unless the raid leader asks you to call something out, don't. Everyone is welcome to take part in a boss discussion prior to the pull but when the fight starts, everyone should follow the plan and keep vent clear unless they're communicating aspects of the fight. Anyone that becomes disruptive in a raid will be replaced.

Pulling

The tank that’s pulling should be the one to initiate the final ready check. Once everyone is ready, he/she will decide when to pull. Do not check ready unless you are.

Main Spec

Anyone that raids is required to choose a main spec for their main character. That main character will be the one with bank access and perks. The player’s other characters are considered alts. When the player signs up for DKP raids, they’re signing up with their main. The player’s main spec will be listed in their public note and dictates what they’re allowed to roll or bid on.

Changing Main Spec / Character Policy

A player can change their main spec or character for whatever reason they want. To do so, they must post in the Changing Main Spec thread in the Guild Discussion forum and agree to the terms. Unless we request you make the change and you agree, you will pay 30 DKP on your new main for making the switch and you may go into the negatives when doing so. When you change your main spec, you automatically lose your rank and are demoted to Member. You must prove your worth and earn your rank on your new main.

Alt Policy

Alts aren’t typically invited to DKP raids but are when we need them to fill a spot. When an alt is in a DKP raid, the alt has the same looting rights as everyone else according to the loot rules as stated above.

Forum Signature

Your signature must contain your raiding characters names, class, and clarify whether you heal/dps/tank if it isn't obvious. I prefer that your forum name is the same as your mains name but it isn't mandatory. To do so, go into "User Control Panel" at the top for the site. On the left under "Options", select "Profile". If you want to change your account login name, select "Edit account settings". If you want to edit your signature, select "Edit signature".

Signing Up

New schedules are posted on Mondays. Only sign up if you can make it. If you cannot make it on time you can still sign up as long as you clarify that in your post. It's completely acceptable if your plans change and you cannot attend but someone must post that cancellation in the same thread you signed up in. Telling anyone in game or in vent is not an acceptable form of canceling. Do not edit your original post, just reply and make a new one so it's seen.

Roster

A roster will be posted in each sign up as soon as it’s possible. Who is picked is determined by rank. Progression raiders are always chosen first, followed by raiders, then members, then recruits.

Standby

Players may be asked to be on standby for various reasons but progression raiders are usually the only ones that will qualify. Anyone asked to be on standby while we raid will be given full DKP for the time they are. They must remain in vent and be ready for a summons into the raid at any time. Anyone that refuses standby will lose their rank.

Waiting List

People that for whatever reason didn't make the list. It may be that we had to balance out the classes or that you're being rotated. It may also be that you're not ready for the content, under geared, have constant computer issues or were a recent no show but if any of these are the case, we will speak with you about it. If you're on this part of the list, you do not have to show up for invites. If you do, and there are people missing, we will invite off this list first as long as you're ready for the content.

Invites

Invites will go out on time and everyone on the roster or standby list is expected to be online and ready for an invite. This means that you should be out of a group, have everything you need to raid and accept the first invite. If you miss the invite or went AFK for invites, you should whisper the raid leader telling him your back or you will be considered a no show.

Scheduled Raiding Time

When you sign up for a raid, you are expected to be available for the entire scheduled raid unless you made it known when you signed up that you couldn't and we invited you anyways. We will always break at the end of the scheduled raid and either end the raid, or swap people out and continue. Nobody is required to stay past the scheduled raid time and we are not required to end the raid because you have to leave.

AFK

If you go AFK in a raid, we will replace you and may not invite you back.

No Shows

No shows will be penalized DKP. The amount could be double of that awarded for the nights run. Players that consistently no show will lose rank.
